Mr. Leeasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is aware that his Circular 5/53, issued on 10th February, 1953, seeks to encourage local authorities to disregard the fair wage Resolution passed by the House of Commons in 1946; and what action he proposes to take in the matter.
§ Mr. H. MacmillanI think that the hon. Gentleman is under a misapprehension. The Circular does not have the effect suggested, since the provisions it deals with never formed part of the Resolution to which the hon. Gentleman refers.
