asked the Minister of Agriculture how many outbreaks of fowl pest there have been since the present epidemic started last autumn; how many birds have been destroyed; what has been the amount of compensation paid; if he will give a list of the counties that have been affected; and if he is satisfied with the co-operation he is receiving from poultry keepers with regard to the necessary notification of the outbreak of the disease.

Since 28th November last there have been 442 outbreaks of fowl pest. About 199,000 birds have been destroyed; the compensation payable is about £264,000. Outbreaks have occurred in 43 counties in England and Wales—I am circulating a list below. In general, poultry farmers are reporting the disease reasonably promptly, although there have been one or two cases of undue delay.

Following are the counties in which outbreaks have occurred:
