HC Deb 11 March 1953 vol 512 c129W
79. Mr. Carmichael

asked the Secretary of State for War the numbers of soldiers of the United Kingdom killed, wounded and missing in Korea during the year 1952; how many were National Service men; and the number under 20 years of age.

Mr. J. R. H. Hutchison

During the year 87 Regular officers and other ranks were killed or died of wounds, 263 were wounded, 76 were reported to be prisoners of war and 31 were reported missing: 110 National Service officers and other ranks were killed or died of wounds, 413 were wounded, 29 were reported to be prisoners of war and 52 were reported missing. Some of those reported prisoners of war or missing would, however, later be reclassified in the light of further information. Separate casualty figures for those under 20 are not readily available. While many of these men would be under this age, the hon. Member will be aware that no man serves in Korea before he is 19 years old.
