HC Deb 10 March 1953 vol 512 c96W
70. Mr. Spence

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will take all steps necessary to encourage the maximum possible use of Scottish homegrown timber this year in all house-building programmes by local authorities or private individuals.

Mr. Marples

My right hon. Friend and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland will do all they can, but it is not yet clear whether any substantial quantity can readily be made suitable for house building, although no doubt it will assist the general situation.
