Mrs. Braddockasked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware of the disappointment of A Company, 1st Battalion, The Lancashire Fusiliers, at the instruction that their sailing for home date arranged for 12th March, 1953, has been cancelled, and that they must do another six months' service although they have completed three years overseas; and if he will reconsider this decision.
§ Mr. J. R. H. HutchisonThis unit is due to return to this country in August on its way to Germany. No indication has been given that the battalion, or part of it, would come back earlier. The position of any man in the battalion who will have served for more than three years overseas before his return was dealt with by my right hon. Friend in his reply to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Colchester (Mr. Alport) on 14th October last year.
