HC Deb 05 March 1953 vol 512 c69W
Mr. Longden

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps the Government of Hong Kong are taking to provide facilities for higher education, based on Chinese as the medium of instruction, for refugees from China.

Mr. Lyttelton

An evening school of high Chinese studies was opened in March, 1951, and gives three-year courses in arts, commerce and journalism. The report of a committee in Hong Kong dealing with higher education in Chinese for refugee students is now under consideration in the Colony and I am awaiting the Governor's recommendations.
