HC Deb 05 March 1953 vol 512 c60W
71. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he will introduce legislation to amend the Agriculture Act, 1947, to enable dispossessed farmers to have the right of appeal to a traditional English court of law, not only on a point of law, but on points of fact and merit.

Sir T. Dugdale

In the light of experience of the working of the Act during the last five years, I am considering what amendments should be made to it when Parliamentary time allows. I will examine this suggestion among others in consultation with representatives of the industry itself. Amendment on these lines has not yet been proposed by any of the leading representative organisations.
