HC Deb 05 March 1953 vol 512 c56W
61. Mr. Parker

asked the President of the Board of Trade why import licences were given to Rival Lamps Limited to import 62 cylinders of gas from France when the necessary supplies could not be obtained in this country as the firm was engaged in a wage dispute.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

This company has neither applied for nor received a licence permitting the import of these gases. Compressed gases are freely admissible from France under the open general licence.
