HC Deb 05 March 1953 vol 512 c49W
Mr. de Freitas

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what help in preventing the recent floods or in relieving distress was given by the inmates of the North Sea Borstal at Freiston on the Lincolnshire coast.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

There was general eagerness on the part of the inmates of North Sea Camp Borstal Institution to give help in neighbouring flooded areas, but it was not found necessary to use them outside the Institution boundaries. They did valuable voluntary work on their own damaged banks, and I am glad to have this opportunity of publicly thanking them for their assistance.
