HC Deb 04 March 1953 vol 512 c40W
79. Mr. Mayhew

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General how many applications are outstanding for the installation of telephones in the Abbey Wood area of Woolwich; how many telephones have been installed during the past 12 months; and what is the current rate of installation.

Mr. Gammans

Separate figures for the Abbey Wood area are not available, but on the Woolwich and Erith exchanges 3,590 applications were outstanding at 31st December, 1952. Three hundred and sixty-six lines were provided in 1952 and I hope that about 1,500 lines will be provided this year.
