HL Deb 04 March 1953 vol 180 c976WA
LORD SANDHURST

asked Her Majesty's Government whether convenient parking space will be provided during the Coronation for the cars of owner-driver Peers occupying seats in the covered stands and Peers driven to the Abbey by those occupying seats in the uncovered stands.

THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (LORD LLOYD)

A limited amount of parking accommodation is being arranged for owner-driven cars of Peers occupying seats in the covered stands in New Palace Yard and Cromwell Green. It is hoped, however, that most of the Peers who have seats in the covered stands will use the special train services which are being arranged from Kensington High Street and Mansion House stations to Westminster Station, from which there is direct access to the Palace of Westminster. Car parks will be provided near Kensington High Street and Mansion House stations. Limited parking arrangements have also been made for cars setting down Peers at the Abbey whose drivers have seats in uncovered stands. Peers should apply in due course for the appropriate windscreen label.

House adjourned at five o'clock.
