HC Deb 04 March 1953 vol 512 cc40-1W
77. Sir W. Darling

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he will consider a new design for pillar posting boxes, to mark the Coronation, in Scotland.

Mr. Gammans

No. It has never been the practice to provide a special type of pillar box as part of Coronation celebrations.

78. Sir W. Darling

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General if he will consider reducing the existing size of the letter slot in post pillars so that letters and postcards only could be inserted.

Mr. Gammans

No. A smaller aperture would mean considerable inconvenience to the public.

90. 90. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General his estimate of the damage to pillar boxes in Scotland bearing the inscription "E II R."

Mr. Gammans

About £70.
