asked the Minister of Food (1) the average civilian food consumption, in terms of calories, expressed in comparison with the pre-war annual average;

(2) what is the average animal protein contained in civilian food consumption, compared with the pre-war annual average.

Three thousand calories per head per day before the war, against 2,950 in 1952. The comparable animal protein figures are 43.2 grammes and 42.0 grammes.
