HC Deb 03 March 1953 vol 512 c17W
47. Mr. Jay

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why expenditure on silver under Vote 22 in the Civil Estimates for 1953–54, Vote on Account, is £1,008,000, compared with £100 in the present year.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

The main reason for the increase to which the hon. Member refers is the resumption of the stockpiling of silver. He will find details in the Estimate which will be published in the next few days.
