§ 52. Mr. Haleasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government the estimated increase in cost of housing from 3rd April, 1951, to February, 1952, and from April, 1951, and September, 1950, respectively, to the most recent convenient date for computation.
§ Mr. MarplesIf the hon. Gentleman refers to the cost of house building, the Girdwood Committee Report gives figures down to March, 1952. If he refers to the cost of housing, here any answer must take account of savings that may have been effected by design, specification, planning of housing estates in relation to the services required, and many other factors. Broadly speaking, we have been trying to counter a tendency for wages and materials to rise by these and similar methods.
