asked the Minister of Transport whether he is satisfied that adequate provision now exists for the proper and sufficient training of seamanship to seamen of all ranks, including the availability of a sufficient number of sailing ships for this purpose.

Facilities for training officers and men of the Merchant Navy in seamanship have been extended and considerably improved during recent years under the general guidance of the Merchant Navy Training Board, which consists of representatives of shipowners and officers and men, as well as of the 26th January, the committee are going ahead vigorously with their inquiries and will report as soon as they can.
