§ 64. Mr. T. Reidasked the Minister of Transport if he will provide the annual grant for the construction of the through north-south road of Swindon which serves the new housing estate at Penhill.
Mr. BraithwaiteIf the hon. Member has in mind the question of widening Cricklade Road in Swindon, I regret that my right hon. Friend has no funds at present available for assisting a major improvement of this kind. It is for the local authorities concerned to consider what works of maintenance and minor improvement, including the provision of footpaths within the existing highway, should be carried out under the programme for which annual classification grants are made.
