HC Deb 30 June 1953 vol 517 c16W
Sir A. Bossom

asked the Minister of Civil Aviation if he is aware that the proposal to construct an airfield at St. Mary's, Romney Marsh, if carried out, will destroy some of the finest agricultural land in the country; and what steps he has taken to find an alternative site less valuable to agriculture.

Mr. Profumo

My Department have no plans for an aerodrome in this district. I understand that a private company is considering the establishment of an aerodrome near St. Mary's, Romney Marsh, and that they have asked the local planning authorities for their preliminary views on the subject. I do not know what agricultural land is involved.
