HC Deb 25 June 1953 vol 516 c160W
61. Mr. P. Morris

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when it will be possible for him to assent to the building of a new fire station at Swansea.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

I entirely share the fire authority's view that a new fire station is badly needed at Swansea, and 1 have already assured them that they may count on work starting during the course of next year. I am now advised that there is no reason why a start should not be made in January, 1954, provided that they can settle the plans with my Department within the next month or so, and on that point I do not expect any difficulty.
