HC Deb 25 June 1953 vol 516 c171W
93. Mr. Hurd

asked the Minister of Food if he will give an estimate of the sum in dollars which would be required to import enough cooking fats to allow this section of the food rationing system to be closed down at the same time as sugar is derationed in the autumn.

Dr. Hill

To deration margarine and cooking fats we estimate that we should require additional imports costing about £22 million a year, of which £10 million would be in dollars.
