HC Deb 22 June 1953 vol 516 cc123-4W
Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Health the number of new hospitals and sanatoria commenced and built since 1945 in Abingdon and the county of Berkshire, respectively.

Mr. Iain Macleod

None, but changes of use have taken place at Abingdon Isolation Hospital, Abingdon Cottage Hospital, Wallingford Isolation Hospital and the Isolation Hospital, Prospect Park, Reading.

Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Health the number of hearing aids supplied since the inception of the National Health Scheme to residents of Abingdon and the county of Berkshire, respectively.

Mr. Iain Macleod

I regret that exact figures are not available on this basis; but 221 patients from the Abingdon area have received hearing aids at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, and it is estimated that in all rather more than 2,000 residents of the county of Berkshire have been fitted there and at Reading.
