§ 70. Mr. Dribergasked the Minister of Supply how many fatal accidents have occurred since 1945 in consequence of war gas or other trials at the Chemical Defence Experimental Establishment, Porton, and other chemical and bacterial warfare establishments; how many men have been disabled for considerable periods of time; what percentage of those taking part in these trials are Service men; how far participation in them by Service men is compulsory; and whether it is proposed to resume the trials suspended after the fatal accident on 6th May.
§ Mr. SandysApart from the case on 6th May there have been no accidents of the kinds referred to in the first and second parts of the Question. Almost all those taking part have been Service men and all have been volunteers. The question of the resumption of the trials must await the completion of the technical study of the cause of the recent accident.
