§ Mr. Nabarroasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will state the arrangements in hand for conducting a survey of the potentialities for back-pressure generation; the number of firms in the United Kingdom to be approached for details of their respective power and process and heating steam consumption and the minimum coal consumption of such firms to qualify for inclusion in the survey; how long it is estimated the survey will take to complete; and what form the publication of the results of the survey will take.
§ Mr. Geoffrey LloydBecause very valuable fuel savings can be made by passing steam through engines or turbines before using it for heating purposes, I have decided to make a survey of the potentialities for generating power in this way. Approximately 3,000 industrial undertakings each consuming over 2,000 tons of coal per annum, and also certain other large establishments, will later this week be asked for the necessary information. I hope that everybody concerned will co-operate to make provisional figures available as soon as possible, and that the final results will be published in the Ministry's Statistical Digest for 1953.
