asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a statement upon the communications which have taken place between Her Majesty's Government and those of India and Nepal upon the subject of an appropriate recognition of Sherpa Tensing's achievement.

No. It is not the usual practice for Her Majesty's Government to reveal the details of discussions dealing with the granting of honours.
