82. Mr. Rankin

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Defence if he will state the number of casualties incurred in Korea by British forces between 1st July, 1951, and the nearest convenient date; and the total number incurred by United Nations' forces in the same period.

Mr. Birch

United Kingdom casualties between 1st July, 1951, and 1st June, 1953, were 2,237 officers and men, of whom 447 wer killed or died of wounds. For the same period, total United Nations casualties, including South Korean and United Kingdom casualties, were about 180,000 of whom about 35,000 were killed.
