22. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many school children there are in the City of Aberdeen; how many of these go to primary and secondary schools, respectively; and how many schools and of what kinds are now available for the children in that city.

Mr. Henderson Stewart

At 31st March, 1952, the latest date for which figures are available, 18,729 pupils were attending 47 primary schools or primary departments of secondary schools, 9,551 were attending 19 secondary schools and 368 were attending two special schools. Three of the schools are grant-aided and three independent.
