asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what development has taken place in Barbados in respect of securing an adequate water supply and irrigation from the underground lake.

Since 1950 the underground water resources have been successively investigated under a Colonial Development and Welfare Scheme. These resources will be further developed under the present Five-Year Plan. I am sending the hon. Member a note on the details.
