HC Deb 09 June 1953 vol 516 c2W
54. Major Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he is taking, in conjunction with other Departments, to ensure that a sufficient number of additional harvest workers will be available, either of Service personnel, European voluntary workers or of other helpers; and how his estimated figures compare with those of last year.

Mr. J. Stuart

Assessments have been made of the extra harvest labour likely to be needed in the different areas. Arrangements are in hand to provide this labour on the same lines as last year and to approximately the same extent.
