HC Deb 09 June 1953 vol 516 c9W
Mr. Baker

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he will reconsider his predecessor's refusal to grant a subsidy for winter beef, in order to encourage production.

Sir T. Dugdale

At the 1952 Annual Review changes were made in the seasonal prices for beef cattle in order to encourage the production of more beef in the winter and spring. The position has shown some improvement this year, but it is too soon to judge whether further action to encourage winter beef production will be needed.
