A sewerage scheme for the parish of Costessey in the Forehoe and Henstead Rural District was completed last November at a capital cost of £41,500.

The Norwich Town Council's surface water sewerage scheme for the Mousehold area is in course of construction, at an estimated capital cost of £178,000, and further work in this area, estimated to cost £13,500, will be authorised later this year. The council's scheme for constructing a new sewage disposal works, and laying other new sewers, at a total estimated capital cost of £1,700,000, has been approved in principle, and the council have been authorised to invite tenders for the first stage, at an estimated cost of £297,000.

This first stage will provide sewage disposal not only for the Mousehold area, but also for the parishes of Thorpe, in the Blofield and Fleeg Rural District, and Sprowston, in the St. Faiths and Aylsham Rural District. A scheme for laying the necessary sewers in these parishes, at an estimated capital cost of £341,000, has been approved in principle, and commencement of work on the first contract, at a cost of £91,300, has just been authorised.
