HC Deb 30 July 1953 vol 518 cc206-7W
Mr. Dudley Williams

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many cases of robbery with violence known to the police there were in the first six months of each of the years from 1946 to 1953.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

The number of offences under Section 23 (1) of the Larceny Act, 1916, known to the police in England and Wales in the first six months of each of the years in question was as follows:

1946 422
1947 416
1948 502
1949 391
1950 456
1951 328
1952 359
1953 427

The figures for the first six months of the year are not a reliable guide to the probable figures for the whole year.
