§ 110. Mr. Edward Evansasked the Secretary of State for War why an official inquiry has been refused into the death of Harry George Fletcher, mate, Royal Army Service Corps, 3 Flotilla, based at 213W Leith Docks, on 13th October, 1952, as a result of a collision between a motor-cycle and a heavy utility shooting brake, particulars of which are available in his Department; if he is aware that the father of the deceased was a dependent upon him; and if he is prepared to pay compensation to the parent.
§ Mr. HeadWhether or not an inquiry should be held is a matter for the civil authorities. If the father was dependant and it is shown that the driver of the Army lorry involved in this accident was in any way to blame, a claim for compensation will certainly be considered.
