HC Deb 30 July 1953 vol 518 c214W
Mr. Gower

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will take steps to ensure that National Service men who have served in Korea or Malaya shall, whenever possible, be permitted to complete their training in the United Kingdom without further posting overseas.

Mr. Head

As far as possible National Service men who serve in Korea or Malaya complete their service there and return direct to this country for release. Exceptionally, National Service men serving in units on a three years' overseas tour, which move elsewhere, accompany their units since it is desirable for the units to move as a whole. In these cases, however, the men would go on to overseas theatres other than Korea or Malaya.
