HC Deb 30 July 1953 vol 518 c208W
101. Mr. Chetwynd

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General why an interval of over four months elapsed between the obtaining of a confession from Mrs. M. McPhie and the preferment of a charge.

Mr. Gammans

The interval was about 2½ months. Mrs. McPhie signed a statement on 14th February, 1952, admitting offences against the Post Office. Thereafter further evidence relative to the case had to be collected, and summonses against her were issued on 28th April, 1952.
