asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he is aware of the concern of many rural district councils at the heavy financial burden of the repayment of loan charges; and if he will take steps to reduce the interest rates on all loans to local authorities.

No. It is in the view of the Government essential that local authorities should pay the market rates.
