Mr. Gower

asked the Minister of Agriculture what quantity of lime has been applied in Glamorgan, and in the Principality of Wales, respectively, in each of the last two years.

The quantity of lime applied by farmers in Glamorgan during the twelve months ended 30th June, 1953, was 23,000 tons and for the previous year 19,000 tons; the corresponding figures for Wales were 289,000 tons and 279,000 tons respectively.

Mr. Gower

asked the Minister of Agriculture how many acres in Wales and in Glamorgan, respectively, have qualified for the ploughing grant in the past year; and how these figures compare with the results in England.
