HC Deb 30 July 1953 vol 518 cc210-1W
Mr. Langford-Holt

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether in view of the misuse to which frequencies have been put, particularly in Band III and in view of the overall problem of frequency allocation, he will specifically ask the Television Advisory Committee to advise him upon the whole issue of frequency allocation.

Mr. Gammans

I cannot accept the suggestion that there has been a misuse of frequencies in Band III or elsewhere in the radio frequency spectrum. The Television Advisory Committee was set up to advise the Postmaster-General on the development of television and sound broadcasting at frequencies above 30 megacycles per second. My noble Friend does not consider that the committee would be a suitable body to advise on allocations to the many other services which have a call upon frequency space.
