§ 87. Sir E. Keelingasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Defence whether he can now announce that the Government will increase the retired pay of the 359 officers still surviving who were given in 1919 rates which were to vary with the cost of living, but which in spite of the great rise in that cost have not been increased since they were anchored in 1935 at 9½ per cent. below the 1919 rates.
