HC Deb 29 July 1953 vol 518 cc146-7W
15. Mr. R. E. Winterbottom

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General when he will permit the British Broadcasting Corporation to proceed with first television coverage for East Anglia, South-East Kent, West Wales, Cumberland, North Scotland, North Wales and South Cornwall for which frequencies were allotted at the Stockholm Conference in 1952.

Mr. Gammans

The Government have just sanctioned a substantial programme of work on additional television stations and it is too early to say when further stations can be authorised.

16. Mr. R. E. Winterbottom

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General what areas of the country will remain to be covered by the British Broadcasting Corporation's first television coverage after the present authorised programme has been completed.

Mr. Gammans

The main areas will be the north-west part of Scotland, part of South Scotland and North-West England, the western part of Northern Ireland, Central Wales, East Anglia, and part of South-West Kent.
