HC Deb 28 July 1953 vol 518 c140W
136. Mr. Morley

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will set up a committee on which interested educational bodies and voluntary societies will be represented to consider the quality of comics in Great Britain, the extent of their distribution and influence, and to advise on such action as may be desirable.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

No. I considered a similar proposal last year in consultation with my right hon. Friends, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Minister of Education, and our conclusion was that the appointment of such a committee would not help to solve the problem of undesirable comics.
