§ 138. Mr. Shackletonasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether the new standards of performance for solid-fuel room heating appliances, introduced on 30th June, accord in all important respects with the recommendations of the Ridley Committee.
§ Mr. Joynson-HicksYes, except for open fires, for which standards have been raised as high as experience has so far shown to be practicable.

Mr. Shackletonasked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he is aware that many of the high efficiency open fires which have been delivered to the home market have not yet been sold; and what further steps he is taking to encourage their distribution, in accordance with the recommendations of the Ridley Committee.
§ Mr. Joynson-HicksThe reasons for the reduction in the rate of sale of improved appliances are being investigated in order to ascertain what further practical steps can be taken to encourage their distribution.
