HC Deb 28 July 1953 vol 518 c137W
130. Mr. J. T. Hall

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that, in view of the shortage of materials for building, mobile shops are at present hampered, when compared with fixed premises, by the limitation on hire purchase which affects them equally with ordinary delivery vans; and if he will consider extending the period under Hire Purchase Regulation 121 so that mobile shops can be paid for over the same periods as other purchase tax-free vehicles such as ambulances.

Mr. H. Strauss

I am aware that sales of mechanically propelled road vehicles used as mobile shops are subject to the restrictions imposed by the Hire Purchase and Credit Sale Agreements (Control) Order, 1952, and that sales of fixed premises are not. In answer to the last part of tine Question. I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave him on 14th July.
