HC Deb 27 July 1953 vol 518 c86W
Mr. Grimond

asked the Minister of Transport if he will give some special attention to applications for grants to improve the roads in Uist and Yell in Shetland in view of the fact that, without an improvement in these roads, neither agriculture nor industry can expand.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the island of Unst. I have already allocated to Shetland for the maintenance and minor improvement of classified roads during the current year as much money as they have asked for, and no doubt they will use this to the best advantage.
