Mr. Powell

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government in how many cases in the last five years permission has been given to Metropolitan borough councils to exceed the limitations imposed by Section 79 of the London County Council (General Powers) Act, 1939, upon repairs and renewals funds; and what was the borough and amount concerned in each case.

The number of cases is 26. The following table gives the remaining information.

REPORT a statement showing those administrative counties and county boroughs which it is expected will receive Exchequer Equalisation Grants in respect of the current financial year, and the amount of such grants expressed in terms of rate poundage which it is at present estimated that they will receive.
