HC Deb 27 July 1953 vol 518 c80W
61. Sir H. Roper

asked the Minister of Transport what steps he is taking to implement the recommendations of the Committee on the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea by Oil.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Many of the Committee's recommendations involve legislation. Meanwhile, as hon. Members will have observed from a statement which appeared in the Press on Friday last, the Chamber of Shipping and the Liverpool Steam Ship Owners Association are, I am glad and grateful to say, recommending to their members that they should voluntarily and without waiting for legislation adopt those recommendations of the Committee which it is practicable for them to put into force at once.
