HC Deb 24 July 1953 vol 518 c78W
Sir W. Darling

asked the Minister of Transport what sums yearly have been allocated by his Department for agreed preliminaries of Forth and Tay road bridges; and what further sum is allocated for 1953–54 period

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

No scheme for such a Tay road bridge has been submitted to me and the question of a grant towards preliminary works on it therefore does not arise. Grants totalling £230,400 have been made towards preliminary works on the Forth Road Bridge. Payments have been made as follows: 1946–47, £4,050: 1947–48, £9,450: 1949–50, £22,500: 1950–51, £18,519. From these amounts repayments totalling £10,658 have to be deducted, making net payments up to date £43,861. Payments this year will depend on requisitions by the Joint Board against the grants already made.
