§ Dr. Kingasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many free pardons have been claimed since June, 1950, to the latest available date: and how many granted.
§ Sir D. Maxwell FyfeThe information asked for in the first part of the Question could not be made available without the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of time and labour. Thirty-one free pardons have been granted since June, 1950, in respect of convictions in England and Wales. In addition, there are some 300 cases in which, as a result of the decisions of the High Court in Blenkin v. Bell and Woolley v. Moore, I have decided to recommend the grant of a free pardon to persons convicted of exceeding the speed limit for licensed goods vehicles when they were not carrying goods.
