HC Deb 21 July 1953 vol 46 cc214-5W
Mr. Gould

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many of those placed under the youth opportunities programme and the youth training scheme go to (a) non-industrial workplaces and (b) industrial workplaces.

Mr. Peter Morrison

The information is not available in the form requested. However, under 60 per cent. of entrants to the youth opportunities programme in 1982–83 were on schemes offering work experience on employers' premises, and of these some 20 per cent. were placed in manufacturing industry.

Mr. Haselhurst

asked the Secretary of State for Employment when he intends to make designation orders as they relate to the youth training scheme and training opportunities scheme under the Race Relations and Sex Discrimination Acts.

Mr. Peter Morrison

I have today, on behalf of my right hon. Friend, made designation orders under section 13 of the Race Relations Act, and section 14 of the Sex Discrimination Act, covering all providers of training in the youth training scheme and the training opportunities scheme.
