asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many people have become unemployed in Liverpool since 1 October 1981; and what percentage of these were made redundant by multinational companies.

Between the unemployment count dates in October 1981 and October 1982, the number of registered unemployed in the jobcentre areas covering the city of Liverpool increased by 4,305. Between the count dates in October 1982 and June 1983, the number of unemployed claimants in the area increased by 303.

Information on the number of people who became unemployed after being made redundant by multinational companies is not available.
