HC Deb 21 July 1953 vol 46 c220W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many teacher training institutions have facilities for teaching design and technology; and what is the total number of places available in these subjects.

Mr. Dunn

In September 1983, 17 institutions in England are expected to be admitting up to 235 students to one-year initial training courses in craft design and technology, and up to 315 students to bachelor of education and comparable courses in that subject. Twenty-two institutions, including seven of those that offer initial training in CDT, are offering in-service or retraining courses in 1983–84. In excess of 100 places will be available on retraining courses.
